The Codex General Standard for the use of dairy terms (codex stan 206-1999) (GSUDT)
applies to the use of dairy terms in relation to foods to be offered to the consumer or for further processing.
The objective of the Codex General Standard on the Use of Dairy Terms is to determine where, when and how dairy terms may be used and where they may not.
The GSUDT aims at avoiding consumer’s misleading by misuse of dairy names.
The Codex Alimentarius also includes provisions in respect of food hygiene, food additives, pesticide residues, contaminants, labelling and presentation, methods of analysis and sampling. It also includes provisions of an advisory nature in the form of codes of practice, guidelines and other recommended measures.
